The CCC (Chicken Crossing Coalition) just released its quarterly injury statistics, which show that serious traffic incidents involving their members are up over 28%.

“We just want to get to the other side of the road without being accosted” replies Charles Cluck, coalition spokesperson, “Others cross without problems, so why can’t we?”

Lobbyists for this barnyard group are urging local municipalities to improve safety measures for hens and roosters who choose to traverse treacherous traffic ways.

Some jurisdictions have already taken this problem under their wings and are working hard to protect feathered friends from messy motor vehicle mishaps.

“I don’t know why these creatures feel so compelled to get to the other side of the road” says Kristopher Kross, “but either way, it is my job to ensure their pavement passage is without peril.”

So as long as there are chickens and roads, there will always be some trying to get to the other side. That is a timeless truth.

Poultry pedestrians deserve to be provided peaceful passageways, just like every other avian animal who ambulates among us.
