The Society of Clairvoyants and Mentalists (SCAM) is up in arms over a new law banning its members from all forms of gambling.
“Winning with wizardry is woefully wrong” says Legislator Larry Lawson, “while profiteering from one’s powers as a prophet is problematic and poses a possible predicament for the public.”
“Oracles ought to abstain from gambling and give ordinary individuals a chance” remarks Hank Holdem, “playing poker with a psychic presents a precarious perplexity.”
“Telepathic trickery could cause a conundrum at the card table” Hank says, “crookedly cheating us commoners out of our cherished cache of chips.”
Experts agree that soothsayers should be suspended from situations where their success is shamelessly subsidized by the shenanigans of spirits.
People prefer to play when participants possess no particular powers to prematurely procure the payouts.
Hopefully this regulation will restrict rewarding those who wager with witchcraft. It is time to finally let us mere mortals make some meager money!
